Genis EyeCare is a family run practice. Dr. Genis and her daughter Dr. Yagnatovsky treat their patients like they would treat their own family. Patients receive a thorough exam including refraction and a full assessment of ocular health, and have the ability to be seen by both an OD and an MD in one visit if needed. Instead of referring patients out for cataract surgery or diabetic retinopathy, we are able to offer diagnosis and treatment under one roof.

Dr. Ilona Genis is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has practiced medicine and performed surgeries for nearly 30 years. Dr. Genis manages glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, blepharitis, dry eye, infections and other eye disorders in clinical and surgical settings.
Dr. Genis graduated from New York University School of Medicine which ranks among the top programs in United States. She completed two years of residency in internal medicine and three years of residency in ophthalmology serving as a Chief Resident at SUNY. She completed a fellowship in glaucoma and served as an Associate Professor in several ophthalmology residency programs.
Dr. Genis is a highly skilled surgeon. She regularly performs standard and laser cataract procedures including placement of specialty intraocular lenses. She is an expert in glaucoma surgical procedures including minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries as well as valve implants and trabeculectomy, and performs a variety of in-office procedures include laser treatments for glaucoma and retinal vascular conditions, and intravitreal injections to treat wet macular degeneration and other retinal conditions.
Dr. Genis’ vast knowledge and experience in ophthalmology make her an outstanding physician and surgeon. She is dedicated to the health and well-being of all her patients and designs a unique treatment plan to fit every individual needs.
Dr. Genis has personally trained her daughter Dr. Michelle Yagnatovsky and instilled her with the same love and knowledge of eye care.
Dr. Michelle Yagnatovsky had her heart set on eyecare since the beginning. From a young age, she worked in the office starting as a secretary, then a technician, and finally as an optometrist. Over all these years, she has built relationships with patients who have become part of the Genis Eyecare family.
Dr. Yagnatovsky received her Bachelor’s degree at New York University in 2016 and her Doctorate of Optometry from SUNY College of Optometry in 2022.
She has a passion for helping everyone maintain healthy eyes and eyesight and offers a unique and comprehensive approach to treating each patient. She specializes in diagnosing and treating dry eye, blepharitis, and glaucoma. She is fluent in English, Russian and Spanish.
